Spent last tuesday up on the Squamish system. I was surprised and dissappointed to find the squamish, upper squamish, as well as the ashlu all EXTREMELY murky. There wasn't more than 2 inches visibility in the latter.

Fished the upper Cheakamus instead and of course, the river is full of very co-operative, very small rainbows.

Sure hope it's clearing up. Anyone taken a peek in the last few days?

Thanks!

Latest report from a couple days ago was some salmon around, but as already said in this thread, still low and silty. Hoping that it cleans up and we get some rain in the next while. smile.gif

Hooked my first big dog on Tuesday at 5:10pm. 5-6 leaps and me keeping him away from a seal meant he'll go on to swim another day without human contact....

They're in and the river is low. The silt is clearing with the cooler nights....rain expected Friday/Saturday but only a bit.

Good Luck.

Cheakamus was really clearing up when I was there on Tuesday. Dropping quickly too.

Anyone had a look at the Squamish? The water levels site I visit shows that the levels are dropping (cooler days and nights = less snowmelt) but I don't know about the visibility.

three feet vis today, two feet in afternoon...some fire-chickens around but giant sea dogs everywhere....where is my 22-250 and bipod?

I think the fish are freaked out, lots of lock-jaw still...too many seals.

Yeah I made it out too! got myself into a nice spot where some big cohos were holding and moving but uliwon is right there is some serious lock jaw going on.Either they're running from the big seals that are around or still not cold enough.I talked to a few other guys and fishing is slow.I got into two rainbow and a coho jack on the Cheak and one big dog on the Squamish.

Nice to see you out there Uliwon. You must have eagle eyes to see me from across the river.

When you say giant sea dogs - do you mean big ocean fresh chum or seals? I'd like to think that the former applies!
