I'm pretty sure he means seal when he says sea dogs. I was there and saw them and watched as the cohos cleared out pretty quick. You know they prefer those silver ho's too and will hunt them down to no end.so if you ever see them up there you can pretty much forget about catching them til the next run goes through.

i was there also yesterday, nothing going on all day until about an hour before high tide, we hooked 3 chums in a row on the fly then it turned off again instantly. Once the tide comes in its hard to get a good flow with your fly. seals out in force.
I stood at the top of a riffle and could just helplessly watch as wave after wave of chums passed thru my legs with nary a glance...oh we got one cutty also.

i have to say so far this is the worst salmon year in about seven.

Was up around Mile 21 on Sunday, saw one Chum surface. The visibility was about 1 - 2 feet with the glacial green color. Fished for about an hour and noticed the water was turning more brown than green. I looked back at my coat and gear that I left on the bank of the river about 3 feet back from the rivers edge, and everything was in 2" of water. The river had come up quickly, and then turned muddy, with 6" visibility. I have never seen anything that fast before.

Nice drive up the Sea to Sky, but that was all there was for that day.

Fished the Squamish at the mouth of the Mamquam Saturday morning with no luck. I later moved up to the Mamquam forfor the rest of theday and connected with one coho jack on a spinner. Landed it but not photos sadly. My camera didnt enjoy wading nearly as much as i did wink.gif Maybe it'll dry out. Befroe the camera got soaked, I did get a photo of a father-son team that caught a jack coho. Good to see the kid get a fish- a bright coho no less. My first salmon came from the Mamquam when I was 7.

Fished the Squamish below the mouth of the Mamquam today afternoon. Water visibility was 1-2 feet. It was very pleasant, sunny day. Landed a wild coho about 12 lbs and 3 lbs dolly warden; lost 2 chums. Quite few chums rolling. Used a chartreuse marabou popsicle.

BC....not too many brothers on that side of the river sporting G3's...plus I saw your truck...you need another sticker...

LOTS of seals freaks the fish out...some guys used to thin them out a bit years back while 'duck' hunting...keep them down river...now they are bolder.

Fished Friday after the high tide and was very disappointing. 4 sea dogs in the river
fu.ked up fishing for the day. Looked like 2 adults and 2 young adults learning to fish.
seals always seemed to come up with bright fish and were just thrashing them around on the surface. Seals would work together corralling the fish to one area of the river then come up with silver fish in their jaws. I could see all the chums scurry out of the deep water into the shallows to escape for their lives from the seals.

Water conditions were lower than on thanksgiving day and yes heavily silted, expect it to be worse from the rain expected to come on Sat and Sunday.

Only saw less than 10 chums hooked between gear chuckers and fly guys. Seals were into double digits. Managed to hook a coloured chum and a bonus sea run dolly, 14", I think, it was real silver , very transparent fins.
approximately both on an egg sucking leech.

Met 2 fishers from Denmark, nice guys. One works in a fly shop over there. Both hooked chums using clear lines but they were under gunned with 7wt rods.

Got checked by the area C.O. It was really good to see him out making the rounds.
He's got a fantastic memory for names and faces 'cause he remembered me from when he checked me in March on the Cheak.

Thanks Sabre!

Yeah the seals certainly made their presence known. Hopefully the freezing level will come down and clear up the river a bit.
