Both battery packs(NiMH)12V Makita Cordless Power Drill no longer hold a charge. The drill is still in very good condition and it was manufactured in Japan and not China - hence a very good tool, and I would hate to just dump it. I was wondering if any one on here has had a battery pack rebuilt and what there experience was, good or bad. I know the price for replacement batteries from Makita makes it cost prohibitive. If you know of a local rebuilder please let me know. I prefer to deal with a local rebuilder rather than going through the internet.

Thanks

Hey, that's solid info. Got rid of a drill I loved, because I couldn't find batteries for it. Thanks!

I called Polar and they quoted me $72.40 per pack. For two that comes out to $145 + taxes. I can buy a brand new (the latest version of my drill)Makita with a 2 battery packs and a charger for $189 + taxes. For that price differential it makes little sense to get the packs rebuilt in Canada. Another alternative is to go across the border where I can get both packs rebuilt for $80 US, plus shipping and us exchange would keep the cost to under $100 Can. For the $80 (US there is also a good chance that Canada Border Services would just wave me through - hence no taxes.
